EU Lifts Another Three-Year Ban On Beans Exportation

General, National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Yetunde
Oni, has stated that the ban placed on exportation of beans by the
European Union due to its claim of being substandard and poisonous has
been lifted for the next three years by the union.

Nigeria next year, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has
urged the Federal Government to immediately stop the export of food
items to neighbouring countries, especially through the land border.

been gradually going up since September, with a 50-kg bag now going for
Rwf45,000 at depots, driven by huge shortages on the local, regional and

Academy Declares GMOs Beneficial for Consumption

The Nigerian
Academy of Science (NAS) has declared that genetically-modified foods
are safe for consumption for now.This was against the warning by the
National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) to the public to be wary of
the products that are on sale in some stores. It said none of the
products had been approved for local consumption.
