Nat. Committee insists GMOs registration, registers new 15 varieties, with no GMO.

The National Committee on Varieties registration has
restated that all the Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) that would be released
into Nigeria market must be duly registered by them in accordance to bio safety
procedures just as they have registered and released about fifteen new improved
crop varieties with none from the GMOs.

Present administration impactful on farmers, citizens, says JASCO boss

The present
administration in Jigawa state led by Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has been
described as very impact on the farmers and citizens in supply of inputs to
farmers and stabilization of prices for the citizens. This view was expressed
by the General Manager (GM) of JASCO Alhaji Hassan Idris Girbobo while speaking
to Food Farm News in his office at Dutse recently.

diverse but proven weed management options drawn from mechanical, biological,
cultural and chemical weed control methods could help small-scale farmers
overcome the limitations posed by weeds and help them maximize the benefits of
genetic improvement, according to Prof Ronnie Coffman, Director of
International Programs in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
