46th National Council on Agriculture Meeting Kicks Off




The 46th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security has commenced with a focus on building resilience to climate change for sustainable food security. 


Mr. Temitope Fashedemi, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) declared the meeting opened yesterday in Calabar, Cross River state as he emphasized on the importance of addressing climate change  challenges on agriculture.


The council of the states' permanent secretaries with heads of other Agricutural agencies have started deliberation on about 78 memoranda and proposals that will be presented to the council headed by the Minister of FMAFS and all the commissioners of Agriculture from the 36 states of the federation including FCT for national approval as projects to be executed against next year.



As at yesterday about 29 memos have been reviewed for recommendations as the process will continue today.

The event is aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices towards addressing climate change, and to ensure food security, and support the livelihoods of citizens in Nigeria. 

The meeting's outcome is expected to contribute significantly to the country's efforts in achieving sustainable food security.

  1. A commendable age-long annual programme by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture! The new Federal Ministry of Livestock Development needs to be mentored to hold its maiden meeting this time next year or thereabout. Congratulations and fruitful deliberations!
