Food Security: UN, FG agrees on paradigm shift

Having understood the long relationship of the Nigerian Agricutural sector with foreign international organizations, both the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) Sen. Abubakar Kyari and United Nations ( UN), Deputy Secretary General (D-SG) have both mentioned the need to re- strategize on food security in Nigeria.

In a press release issued by the FMAFS, both the Agric Minister acknowledged the roles of each other towards one another towards achieving food security.

Sen. Kyari said in the statement the long history of relationships with many UN' s agencies especially in agriculture saying that " Nigeria has been working with these international partners and paying statutory contribution and counterpart funds to FAO, IFAD, UNDP, UNIDO, ILO, WFP, IOM among others with a view to increasing food production and encourage multilateral institutions to support the Nigerian food system resilience with sustainable interventions in Agricutural sector"

Kyari however commented that the UN's visit should help to create a paradigm shift to further improve the agricultural sector.

Speaking, the UN, D-SG emphasized the need to modernize Nigerian agriculture, calling for greater investment in green energy and digital technologies.

Amina noted that these innovations would make farming  more attractive especially for the youths.
