Minister commends Nasarawa agric support to farmers

The Minister of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) Sen. Abubakar Kyari has commended the agricultural support the Nasarawa state government is giving to farmers in terms of inputs distribution and energy supplies to enhance value addition to produce.


This Minister's commendation is coming on the heel of Nasarawa state Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule' s visit o Agric Minister last week where he unveiled the plan of doubling the quantity of fertilizer to be given to farmers in this year 2024.


The Nasarawa state Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule has said that “we have decided to double our efforts. If we were initially providing 13,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers, we will now increase it to 26,000 bags" added that Government's commitment to small farmers' holder in the state is unwavering.


The Agric Minister however praised the Nasarawa State's significant roles  in grains, legumes, and root crops cultivation towards enhancing food security saying additional inputs support during this critical time would be very timely to addressing high prices of food in Nigeria.


He  acknowledged the challenges faced by farmers in accessing agro-inputs, particularly in meeting the 50 per cent counterpart payment required by the subsidy of the Federal Government.  


Furthermore, the minister commended the establishment of a solar cell production plant in Gora, Nasarawa State, by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) as he expressed optimism that the operational plant would fulfill the solar-powered pump needs, benefiting the environment and beyond.

  2. Oyo state as what it takes to wear the crown if only it's sincerely supported my the government and the people to uplift agriculture, our soil can testify to it with the quality of our crops and fruits.
