Inputs meant for women farmers stolen at Abuja parade ground

The Federal Government (FG) inputs worth millions of Naira were today at the roll out event of the agricultural inputs and equipment support meant for smallholder women farmers were broad day light stolen at the expense of the initial purposes.

This happened today at the Area 10 parade ground Abuja where the event took place immediately the Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono left around past 4.00 pm.

The event which attracted FG ministers like Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management & Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello, Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige,  Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Dame Pauline Tallen, Minister of Finance, Budget & National Planning, Hajia, Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed,  Water Resources and  Environment ,  with other royal fathers ended up being marred by the hoodlums who carted away seeds and other inputs that were meant to be given to support women farmers.

Majority of the perpetrators of this dastardly act were people who have mistaken the seeds varieties like groundnut, millet, cowpea as edible food while some of the fertilizer chemicals carted away were seen as part of their own largesse from the FG.

Some of the people involved were asking Food Farm News and one other representative of Sesame Seed Association of Nigeria whether the seeds they have carted could be cooked to eat, meaning they have actually taken them for edible food.

It took the intervention of the policemen who shot three times into the air to disperse the people while the hoodlums have already gone with those items worth millions of naira.

No government officials wanted to comment on this matter as they were trying to secure the remaining of the items from being totally stolen away.

Present also at the event is the Chairman, House Committee on Agricultural production Services, Hon. Mukta Dandutse and many other dignitaries.

  1. Government really meant well, but there are better ways of reaching the needing. Politics in everything will lead us no where. Exactly what happened with palliative during the endsars Era. We should have learned our lessons. Some states are pally up products that have gone to market to lower prices of food items. They want to have pyramids. That's uncalled for under our present circumstances. We do not need to show pyramids when prices of food items are seriously high.
