FG inaugurates new ginger executives committee

•             President says no more factions

The Federal Government (FG) through the office of the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Federal Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment (FMITI) Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo has inaugurated a new executive committee for the National Ginger Association of Nigeria (NGAN).



The President is Squadron Leader Nuhu Daudu (RTD) alongside with six other vice presidents from the geo-Political zones of the country. By this, the association has also overcome the issue of faction that is rocking the association after a successful election held 14th, November 2019. This ceremony took place on Tuesday this week at the conference room of the FMITI PS.

Dr. Gwarzo while inaugurating the 17 executive committee members charged them to work together as a team to develop the production, processing and marketing value chains of ginger now that the issue of faction in the association has been resolved.

The PS urged the association President to develop plans that would move the ginger value chain forward to become number one in the globe within the next ten years, stressed that NGAN should be thinking of how the crop would be turned into several derivatives like chocolates, sweet, powder and other things that could enhance revenue generation of its members in the sector.

Speaking the president of NGAN, Squadron Leader Nuhu B. Daudu (RTD) promised that his leadership would imbibe the spirit of team work for better impartation on the association, saying the inauguration was a seal of empowerment to the executive for effective performance towards the improvement of the ginger industry for more economic earnings in Nigeria.

Daudu said that ‘‘we are going to put our house in other and ensure that we work together as a team to increase the production of ginger with value addition to be become competitive in the globe. We will work to make sure that in the next five years the Nigerian ginger increases in production as it is processed into a lot of sellable products’’  

Also speaking, the General Secretary, Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations (FACAN), Dr. Nuhu Dogodaji also enjoined members of the association to work hard to ensure there is increase in the production of ginger as more farmers are mobilized to join.
