AFAN women fault presidential fertilizer distribution

women leader of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Imo State Chapter, Mrs. Ijeoma Nwankuku
A women leader of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Imo State Chapter, Mrs. Ijeoma Nwankuku has decried the presidential fertilizer distribution strategy to farmers as not effective as many could not get the item with all other agricultural inputs. She said this at the 43rd National Council of Agriculture and Rural Development held in Umuahia, Abia State.

Mrs Nwankuku said that the information fertilizer distribution was not properly dispersed in the state, thereby leading to many farmers not being a beneficiary, adding that AFAN members have never got any of the equipment's and inputs promised by the Federal Government (FG) in the state.

The women leader urged the FG to monitor the process used in the distribution to farmers in order to prevent the subsidy not being  ended  in the hands of political farmers  adding that the challenges faced by members was already discouraging from farming.

She advised government to adopt AFAN into the presidential fertilizer initiatives programme saying this would enhance the wide spread of inputs to other members across the states and thereby ensuring food security.
