The Minister, Chief Audu Ogbeh with other management team of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) may today visit the three agricultural research institutes in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. This may be the first of its kind by the minister to these institutes since assumption into office.

Findings reveal that the deplorable condition of the research institute in Nigeria occasioned by lack of fund must have informed the need for the minister to visit these research institutes as sometimes last week the three executive directors of these institutes paid a visit to the minister for the purpose of audience that will bring a better improvement to research and agriculture in Nigeria.

Our source told us that the minister has be invited to come and see thing by himself so as to know the level of assistance the Institutes might be seeking because of their role in the agricultural development when it comes to new improved technologies for higher productivity in view of economic diversification from oil to commercial agriculture.

The three places to visit are Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) and National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLs).
