The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has stressed on the need for the nation to focus on the development of Agriculture. He said this while speaking at the International Bible Training Centre (IBTC), Ayobo, Lagos, when he worshipped with the Deeper Christian Life Ministry.

Gov. Emmanuel said “I know overtime that we have been over-dependent on oil and the situation we find ourselves now calls for a rethink so that we can be serious with the diversification of our economy”.

The governor, who reiterated that the first consideration of a government should be how to feed the citizens, said he is already doing that in Akwa Ibom State. He noted that leaders of developed nations place priority on feeding their nationals, an idea that Nigerians should emulate by going back to farming because there is so much that could be gotten from the land.

In his remarks, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, called on Nigerians to support the present administration in its effort to diversify the nation’s economy. He urged Nigerians to be hopeful and do their part for government’s plans to be actualised.
