LASG Encourages Farming in Schools

The Lagos State Government has called on pupils of primary school to take to farming as well as sports and voluntary youth clubs.


This call came the way of head teachers of primary schools in the state. They were also admonished to encourage an all-inclusive education.

Speaking at the inauguration of two blocks of classroom, head teachers’ offices and toilets in two primary schools in Badagry, Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Ganiyu Sopehin noted that it was the administration’s decision to make schooling fun for pupils.

The schools which benefitted from the inauguration of the facilities were: Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School, Araromi Ale; and Morogbo Primary School, Morogbo.

“The governor directed that the list of all primary schools that are in bad shape should be given to him with a view to rehabilitating them. With or without intervention funds from the Federal Government, the Lagos State Government will find a way of providing qualitative education.

“So, primary schools in the state should maintain government facilities in their domain and do more than what they are presently doing in the area of extracurricular activities, agriculture and security. They should use the available land at their disposal for agriculture,” Sopehin added.
