AGRIC ACADEMY BERTHS IN KWARA |
The Agriculture and Allied Employees Union of Nigeria
(AAEUN) has been granted approval to establish an Agricultural Academy
in Kwara State,under a public-private partnership arrangement.
After meeting the stipulated standard, the Quality Assurance Bureau of the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development gave its nod to the establishment of an agriculture and agro – allied vocational training institution of the state chapter of AAEUN, which is billed to commence academic activities on 1st March 2016.
In the approval letter dated January 27, 2016, the Ministry noted that the inspection duly conducted on available learning facilities, course curricula and the environment showed that students would be exposed to standard training.
Briefing newsmen after the pre – academic session Stakeholder’s Meeting held by the academic board members, management and trainers, the Chairman, Kwara State Council of AAEUN, Comrade David Ehindero, pointed out that the training would be practical-oriented and would lead to the award of Certificate in Agricultural Enterprise (CAE), with specialization in a preferred option.
He stated further that the training would be 70 per cent practical and 30 per cent theory, while the Basanyin integrated farm estate would serve as the training site. They also said since the academy would tap into the expertise of members to promote the practice of agriculture in Nigeria, the programme would be made affordable to the general public
