We link up women to a better agricultural skill says Chairperson NNEW

The chairperson, NECA’s Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), Mrs. Ekaette Umoh has assured female farmers who are interested in taking agriculture as a business more skill acquisition through linking them up with appropriate institution for more technical knowledge of standard practicing of farming towards making profit and good living.

 
 Mrs Edobong Akpabio speaking with Food Farm News at the recently organized Abuja trade fair and exhibition titled “show-casing the hidden treasures in Agribusiness sector in Nigeria” said that the immense contribution of women to food security in the country required that more skill acquisition needed to be given to women as many of them are the family bread winners saying that “NNEW  will connect woman in the Rural and Urban areas who wants to achieve success in their career, family, community, financial independence and relationships in and outside the workplace through acquisition of skill in agriculture”  
Mrs. EkaetteUmoh  further stated that majority of the rural women were not privilege to skill acquisition due to limited resources “Rural women typically work longer hours than men, which means empowering and investing in rural women has shown to significantly increase productivity, reduce hunger and malnutrition and improve rural livelihoods” added that the same must be applied to the urban ones towards ensuring food security.

She further added that there are areas a lot of people are not paying attention and which are very fulfilling and profitable such as Bio-Energy, Organic Agriculture, Recreational Agriculture, Ornamental Agriculture,Agri-Waste Recycling, Agric-Journalism, machine Fabricator and Agriculture Service Center.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Director Agribusiness and investment, Eng. Daniel Udo said the NNEW fair and exhibition was a welcome development for women added it would make them see agriculture as a -business.
