Volume of Sudanese Exports of Gum Arabic Reached 34.000 Tons

Gum Arabic is one of the important commodities that comes on the top of the Sudanese exports , especially after the outage of oil revenues because of the secession of the South which is accounting for %80 of the volume of exports , gum Arabic of Sudan has drew the attention of the countries of the world for its high quality and competitive power in the markets , taking into consideration that the African producing countries suffering from crisis … Sudan Vision met with the Secretary General of the Council of Gum Arabic Dr.  Abdelmajid Abdelgadir to highlight this important commodity , especially after the extensive demands by USA ,and Asian and European countries .

The export volume of Acacia gum is (11) thousand tons

The Secretary General of the Council of Gum Arabic Mr. Abdelgadir confirms that the council concluded a semi-annual report of gum Arabic export for the period from January until the end of June 2015 . Answering a question about the volume of the exports of the gum Arabic , Abdelgadir explained that export volume reached (34) thousands tons of gum (23) , whereas acacia gum reached (11) thousand tons , he says; there is a big leap for the gum Arabic exports of acacia sort  this year, compared with previous years where acacia recorded the highest export volume in its history since early last century so far .

Threats facing gum Arabic producing countries in Africa

Abdelgadir referred the reasons for the increase of inflation in acacia exports to the following factors
Firstly: The world declaration issued by the US foundation "Food and Drugs Administration" in which confirmed that acacia gum is one of food components after it was considered by world food constitution as one of foodstuff additives which increased demand on it. Secondly , Ebola disease spreading in west Africa countries and that made many American and European companies to head for Sudan , Thirdly , there are some political and economical events happened in the African producing countries as (Boko Haram) in northern Nigeria and Niger were areas famous of producing acacia gum , and this in return led to more reliance on Sudan .
 
Sudan produces 300 thousand tons per year

Dr. Abdelgadir adding that Sudan occupies advanced position with %90 of the Gum Arabic world production, despite the lack of fundamental ingredients, in a time Sudan could produce more than 300 thousand tons per year, however, productivity remained confined within (100) thousand tons, because of underemployment on the one hand, and the shortness of the harvest season on the other hand 10%.

Presidential decree for farming (10) of the pluvial projects

The secretary general said that the council follows up the expansion plans of farming gum Arabic implemented by the national corporation for forests in cooperation with producing States' governments to enforce the Presidential decree ordains farming of (10) projects of pluvial projects in Sudan within (5) years .
Worth mentioning that the Sudanese government recently received an invitation and support from the French Development Agency , adding that Japa association with help from the national donors' support fund  provided loans to the villagers who produce gum Arabic , allowing them to repay it in installments , he says that there are (10) associations of gum Arabic producers , and donors' support fund provides donations to these associations to help them to buy their needs such as tractors , water wells , stores,  etc ..   

There is a high demand for Gum Arabic

The secretary general confirms that gum Arabic gave Sudan access to  the world markets , and that there is a high demand for gum Arabic from Asian countries , hopping that could improve the Sudanese economy and lessen the crisis caused by the loss of three quarters of Sudan's oil production following the secession of the South Sudan . Ministry of External Trade announced yesterday that Sudan arranges for exporting (17) thousand tons of gum Arabic to the United States of America during this year via UAE and a number of other countries to intensify the provision of foreign currency .

USA is one of the largest importers of gum Arabic despite the unilateral economic sanctions, USA recently announced that it will import gum Arabic directly from Sudan, because gum Arabic is one of the important commodities enters in pharmaceutical and food industries.
