previous years where acacia recorded the highest export volume in its
history since early last century so far .
Threats facing gum Arabic producing countries in Africa
Abdelgadir referred the reasons for the increase of inflation in acacia exports to the following factors
Firstly:
The world declaration issued by the US foundation "Food and Drugs
Administration" in which confirmed that acacia gum is one of food
components after it was considered by world food constitution as one of
foodstuff additives which increased demand on it. Secondly , Ebola
disease spreading in west Africa countries and that made many American
and European companies to head for Sudan , Thirdly , there are some
political and economical events happened in the African producing
countries as (Boko Haram) in northern Nigeria and Niger were areas
famous of producing acacia gum , and this in return led to more reliance
on Sudan .
Sudan produces 300 thousand tons per year
Dr.
Abdelgadir adding that Sudan occupies advanced position with %90 of the
Gum Arabic world production, despite the lack of fundamental
ingredients, in a time Sudan could produce more than 300 thousand tons
per year, however, productivity remained confined within (100) thousand
tons, because of underemployment on the one hand, and the shortness of
the harvest season on the other hand 10%.

The
secretary general said that the council follows up the expansion plans
of farming gum Arabic implemented by the national corporation for
forests in cooperation with producing States' governments to enforce the
Presidential decree ordains farming of (10) projects of pluvial
projects in Sudan within (5) years .
Worth mentioning that the Sudanese
government recently received an invitation and support from the French
Development Agency , adding that Japa association with help from the
national donors' support fund provided loans to the villagers who
produce gum Arabic , allowing them to repay it in installments , he says
that there are (10) associations of gum Arabic producers , and donors'
support fund provides donations to these associations to help them to
buy their needs such as tractors , water wells , stores, etc ..
There is a high demand for Gum Arabic
The
secretary general confirms that gum Arabic gave Sudan access to the
world markets , and that there is a high demand for gum Arabic from
Asian countries , hopping that could improve the Sudanese economy and
lessen the crisis caused by the loss of three quarters of Sudan's oil
production following the secession of the South Sudan . Ministry of
External Trade announced yesterday that Sudan arranges for exporting
(17) thousand tons of gum Arabic to the United States of America during
this year via UAE and a number of other countries to intensify the
provision of foreign currency .
USA is one of the largest importers of
gum Arabic despite the unilateral economic sanctions, USA recently
announced that it will import gum Arabic directly from Sudan, because
