Soil science boss laments no funding, says workers live on mercy

The Chief Executive Officer ( CEO), Nigeria Institute of Soil Science ( NISS), Prof. Victor Chude has lamented the non-release of budget funding to his organization since the assumption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the number one citizen of the country.

Prof. Victor Chude in a very sympathetic mood told the National Assembly members during 2026 budget defense that no salaries have been paid any workers since 2024 after the departure of late President Mohammad Buhari.

NISS CEO said that the last time they were paid was during the administration of late President Mohammad Buhari, adding that his workers had been living at the mercies of family members and God.

According to him " We have no money. We are just living by the grace of Allah. No kobo is given to workers as people are just working with expectations"

He further responded to the question of how the workers have been surviving by saying that " Extended family members have been assisting them with Allah "
