The Federal Government (FG) has sacked the Executive Secretary ( ES), National Agricutural Land Development Authority ( NALDA) Mr. Paul Ikonne with immediate replacement by Engr. Cornelius Oluwaseun Adebayo.
The reason for the relief of Mr. Paul Ikonne was not too clear as at the time of filing this news as his five years tenure in the office is yet to be completed. Our findings revealed that he has not completed the five years tenure he started around May of the same year when the new NALDA operations commenced in June, 2020.
A source close to the Agency confirmed the unprofessionalism of the former ES as regards the execution of the organization's mandate for political gains.
Our source cited an example of the first National Agricutural Land Development Authority Institute of Agribusiness and Entreneurship slated to begin operations next month September in Abia state saying such a contraction was outright outside the agency's mandate.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate appointment of Engr. Adebayo as the new NALDA's ES with an instruction to deploy his competence and experience towards supporting and driving the growth and sustainable Agricutural sector for commercial food production in Nigeria.
Appointments into the Offices of Extra Ministerial Departments and Agencies are at the discretion of the President and their ends with the Government that appointed them except if the incoming government wishes to continue with them.
