The state of emergency declared on Agriculture about a year ago by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( BAT) has received serious batching for not being able to check challenges inherited from the past administrations as promised. Although the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS) Sen. Abubakar Kyari was on the contrary while reeling out the FG achievements as regards the sector.

GMOs probe, official says farmers are aware

 

As effort to probe already released Genetically Modified ( GM) crops' improved varieties into Nigerian markets by the lower chamber of the National Assembly is ongoing, the Director,  Agricultural Biotechnology Agency,  Dr. Rose Gidado has posited high farmers' awareness of the new improved technology especially in cotton, cowpea and maize.

2023-24 research report shows wheat production plummet

 

The well publicized dry season farming for the  year 2023-24 wheat production in the Northern states, Nigeria has reflected a declined yield in view of better improved varieties employed by the Federal Government ( FG) for the cultivations.

The recently concluded Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Summit in Nairobi, Kenya has declared strong support for increased sustainable soil management with more patronage to locally produced fertilizers, just as it was observed that the continent losses US$4 billion yearly on soil degradation.

2024 African Fertilizer Summit, Nigeria yet to meet 50kg resolution

 


As the second leg of the African Fertilizers Summit will be rounding up today in Nairobi, Kenya, Nigeria the first host country in 2006 may have been perceived as being a failure to not meeting up with the 50kg per hectare fertilizer resolution.
