FG promises N1.6 Billion relief fund to ginger farmers


The Federal Government ( FG) has promised to make available the sum of N1.6 billion to assist ginger farmers that are affected by blight epidemic in the four producing states in the North.


The N1.6 billion according to the Minister of Agriculture, State, Sen. Aliyu Abdullahi during a stakeholders would be provided by the recently created National Agricultural Development Fund ( NADF) to alleviate the plight faced by these farmers running to total of about N12billions in Federal Capital Territory ( FCT), Nasarawa, Kaduna and Plateau.


The fund assistance is to ascertain food security and economic prosperity of the nation through proactive farming activities as the new formed National Ginger Blight Control Taskforce will be headed by Mr. Abubakar Abdullahi.


The taskforce leader Mr. Abdullahi stressed the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding agricultural resources and promoting resilience thereby emphasized the necessity for investments in research, extension services, and farmers' support systems to ensure a sustainable future for Nigeria's agricultural sector.
