As part of the effort to intensify on keeping citizens more informed about agricultural rural development in the country, the Federal Government (FG), and the World Bank project on Agro-Processing, Productivity and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) will this week train some select journalists on effective communication on rural development and its economic impacts on the grassroots communities in terms of empowerment.
The training
titled ‘’ Workshop on Development Communication: Case Study of Reporting the
APPEALS Project’’ organized by the
office of the National Coordinator Dr. Mohammed Sani Jobdi, which is expected
to start tomorrow Monday, July 26th, and ends Tuesday 27th,
2021 at Karu Mararaba, Nasarawa state of Nigeria.
APPEALS, a six-year project developed by the Federal
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) in collaboration with the
World Bank and other stakeholders including farmers and six states government
is aimed to support the migration of peasant farmers with 1-5 hectares of land
to commercial production of 5-10 hectares in order to target a bigger market
for more economic earnings and jobs creation.
