Agric production has worsened in recent time, says farmers’ boss

The Central Bank of Nigeria/Wema Bank/Nigeria Cassava Growers Association/Ogun State Anchor Borrowers Programme, linked the third batch of Young Cassava Production farmers (1,065 farmers), to credit, in the tune of N234,590,745.00k (N220,273.00k per farmer) across the 20 LGAs of Ogun State, on 8th October, 2020. These farmers will also be linked to inputs (herbicides, agrochemicals and improved planting materials), and guaranteed markets.

The Director of Federal Department of Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Mrs Karima  Babangida has alerted farmers on the possibility of importing cassava brown steak disease (CBSD) into Nigeria, if care was not taken. She gave the alert at the stakeholders’ sensitization meeting on cassava brown steak disease held in South West at Moor Plantation, Ibadan recently.

FG to ameliorate flood effects on farmers, says minister

  Kebbi, Jigawa, others lose 95% crops to flood



The minister of agriculture, Alhaji Mohammadu Sabo Nanono has promised that the Federal Government would give inputs of seed, chemicals and fertilizer to farmers affected by the flood. He made the disclosure at a press conference preceding the World Food Day.

AFAN dispute: Parallel office opens as FMARD absent






The dispute in All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria (AFAN) leadership takes another dimension with a parallel headquarters office being commissioned by the Mallam Faruk Mudi led faction at Abuja by the Deputy Governor of Kano state, Alhaji Nasiru just as officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) are not physically present but its agricultural implements for distribution were sited.

Exporters decry apex bank’s policy on domiciliary account

The Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria (FACAN) has condemned the policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disallowing exporters from having unlimited access to their foreign domiciliary account to pursue export. President of the group, Dr. Victor Iyama stated this during a press conference held yesterday at the sesame seeds headquarters office in Abuja.
