In view of the transboundary disease called Armyworm disease, the FAO is soliciting for more fund to combat the its spread through the  use of farmers’ guide just as the organization is working closely with a wide range of countries around the world that have formally requested the its assistance to tapping into financing from the Green Climate Fund. The Executive Director, National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) Prof. C.A.M Lakpini has said that the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh was surprised to learn the imported grasses by the ministry were available in the country saying he has instructed his centre to embark on establishing a pasture farm in three states of the federation for the purposes of generating feeds for animals with other facilities. Tanzania: MPs Happy With Govt Action On Illegal Fishing

LAWMAKERS have welcomed the government decision to curb illegal fishing but warned against measures that appear targeted at small-scale operators. Contributing to a report from the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Water tabled in the National Assembly yesterday, MPs expressed discomfort over recent actions taken by the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries against small fishers.

The European Union (EU) may have concluded plan to lift the ban placed on Nigerian agricultural produce as the country according to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh will make all effort to ensuring standard produce being sent abroad. Meanwhile the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NQAS) through its Coordinating Director, Dr. Vincent Isegbe has expressed happiness of the new development for its economic impacts.

A team of researchers working on the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture-managed Cassava Weed Management Project (IITA-CWMP) have said findings from the 5-year project will respond and address the problems of weeds especially in cassava farming systems.

The momentum for livestock productivity a crusade being led by National Animal Production Research Institute ( NAPRI) in partnership with other private and public stakeholders for quality meat and fresh milk productivity gained strength yesterday as the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI)  joined the business team towards ensuring the success of the farm models establishment in all the requested states of the federation thereby harnessing the economic potential of the sub sector into revenue generation and wealth creation.

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) under President Muhammadu Buhari in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) designed the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase-One (ATASP-1), which has adopted a holistic approach to tackling the challenges confronting agriculture in Nigeria. The AfDB is funding ATASP-1 as its contribution to the revitalization of agriculture in the country.

A new #ICT4Agric project was unveiled in Abuja today. It will be implemented in Nigeria by the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) with funding from the European Union. About 5,000 farmers will benefit from the project. More details later.
