FMITI promises partnership with NAPRI, others on livestock improved productivity

The momentum for livestock productivity a crusade being led by National Animal Production Research Institute ( NAPRI) in partnership with other private and public stakeholders for quality meat and fresh milk productivity gained strength yesterday as the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI)  joined the business team towards ensuring the success of the farm models establishment in all the requested states of the federation thereby harnessing the economic potential of the sub sector into revenue generation and wealth creation.

The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) under President Muhammadu Buhari in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) designed the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase-One (ATASP-1), which has adopted a holistic approach to tackling the challenges confronting agriculture in Nigeria. The AfDB is funding ATASP-1 as its contribution to the revitalization of agriculture in the country.

In 2009 the Federal Republic of Nigeria adopted Vision 20:2020 which laid the overarching policy framework for Nigeria to become one of the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has asked for expression of interest from the team of researchers and business partners led by National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) Executive Director, Prof. C.A.M Lakpini to the apex bank on a mission to seek financial support for cattle farmers towards local fresh milk and meat productivity without moving these animals about.

A new #ICT4Agric project was unveiled in Abuja today. It will be implemented in Nigeria by the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) with funding from the European Union. About 5,000 farmers will benefit from the project. More details later.

In her drives to economic diversification using agriculture, the Federal Government (FG) through the Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment (FMITI) has sealed a deal to partner other stakeholders for the promotion of  Shea butter and cotton crops towards attracting foreign currency in the global markets. This was unveiled by the Minister of state, FMITI Hajia Aisha Abubarkar at a press conference held in Abuja.
