Agric Council: New ES resumes, promises E-extension for food security

The new Executive Secretary ( ES) Dr. Abubarka Adamu has officially resumed duty at the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria ( ARCN).

Dr. Abubarka Adamu is replacing Prof. Garba Sharubut,u whose speculation of being returned for the second term may have now been put to rest by the resumption.

Food Farm News was at the ARCN on Wednesday this week when the new ES was being taken round the offices with excitement on the faces of the staff in Abuja.

The new ES, Dr. Adamu promised to proactively use the new Agricutural technologies to drive extension services in order to achieve food security as being envisioned by President Tinubu.

Dr. Adamu said that the era of analog is gone. It is now time to use modern technologies through  E-extension to achieve food security as envisaged by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Extension will be given a budget for mobilization to reach the rural farmers with modern technologies and feedback.

The era of analog is gone, but electronic technology through e-extension works to achieve food security. Extension will be given a budget for mobility, like moto motorbike and a vehicle to get to farmers with feedback. We will use a dashboard to monitor from our office to ensure food security. We will use technologies to ensure food security. 

The chairman, Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions, ARCN branch, Comrade Ajah Francis expressed happiness at the resumption of a new ES, saying that his members have been expecting a new appropriate person by the Council Act and a suitable ES for the organization. 

Ajah Francis expressed gladness for the replacement of the former ES, saying the rumor had that he might be returned, and this might not be healthy for the working environment.
