An Agric partnership deal last Monday was struck between the National Cassava Growers Association ( NCGA) and management, University of Abuja to cultivate 1000 hectares of improved cassava crop using students for commercial production to enhance economic earnings and food security.

FG commissions cassava plant in Rivers


The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono has commissioned a 450 metric tons of cassava plant at Afam , Oyigbo Local government area of Rivers State. Nanono in a press statement signed by the chief information officer of the ministry, Mr. Ezeaja Ikemefuna  said that the processing plant would address the challenges of value addition  into other  derivatives towards more economic earnings and import mitigation.

FG cautions farmers on spread of cassava brown disease

 

The Director of Federal Department of Agriculture in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Mrs Karima  Babangida has alerted farmers on the possibility of importing cassava brown steak disease (CBSD) into Nigeria, if care was not taken. She gave the alert at the stakeholders’ sensitization meeting on cassava brown steak disease held in South West at Moor Plantation, Ibadan recently.

Cassava: NEPC wants export as CBN promises finance



The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) boss Mr. Segun Awolowo has emphasized the need for more export of cassava derivatives to achieving more economic earnings for the country, even as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now set to finance the development of the crop value chains with loan supports.
