Varietal chairman commends Premier, NIHORT for tomato varieties, one other release

Premier Seed Nigeria Limited, a first famous indigenous seed company has recently received a pat on the back along with National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) for being able to bring for documentation and release of two different tomato varieties after a very long while in the history of crops varietal release in the country, just as one yellow hybrid maize fortified with pro-vitamin A was also approved for registration and release for the company.

The Federal Government (FG) constituted Committee on naming, registration and release of crop varieties has approved six improved tomato seeds and fifteen other crops for commercial release to farmers.

Tomato: Dangote may sabotage 2020 farming season says Association Secretary




The National Secretary, Tomato Growers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Sanni Danladi has said that the 2020 tomato farming season may not be visible as the management of Dangote Tomato processing factory is yet to provide farmers with seedlings for six thousand  hectares, even as fund has been made available by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
