The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has officially launched a cassava production intervention and industrialisation programme aimed at transforming Nigeria’s cassava value chain and positioning the country as a global powerhouse in cassava-based products.

Editorial: Food Price Crash and Empty Buffer Storage

 


The recent declaration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, through the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security ( FMAFS), Sen. Sabi Abdullahi, ordering the Federal Executive Committee to immediately embark on food prices crashing to ensure accessibility, availability, and affordability, is very commendable in giving succour to poor Nigerian citizens. Still, our curiosity is how this directive can be made effective with empty buffer storage across the states.

The chairman, Board of Trustees ( BOT) and former President, Federation of Commodity Associations ( FACAN), Dr. Victor Iyama has warned the Federal Government( FG) against buying into the cultivation of Genetically Modified ( GM) seeds, saying it will be toxic to the soil and human health.
