Cassava president speaks on community cooperatives to rebrand

 The new president, National Cassava Growers Association ( NCGA), Alhaji Mustapha Othman Bakano has said that his leadership will adopt local community cooperatives strategy to  drive the marketing of the produce without much reliance on government funding.


Alh. Mustapha Othman Bakano said that the strategy to achieve down-up community cooperatives approach productivity value chains of cassava derivatives would be effectively achieved through Local Content Private Partnership where all stakeholders are committed to the successful end result of the value chains with government provisions of security and other infrastructure for economic acceleration development with job creation.

The president stated all this in a private chat with Foodfarmnews that Nigerians will see a more proactive NCGA with modern driven technology of computers interface to monitor all the volumes of cassava transactions from the local communities to urban centres with an intention of more wealth and job creations especially at the local communities, saying there is nothing government's effort can achieve without an active private sector.


According to him " without efficient private sector operations, government policies will keep failing. Down to up approach through a community cooperatives driven approach where communal production of local farmers will be off taken by a private entity for processing to allow them to go back immediately to farming without delay"


"Our role as an Association is to uplift the status of our members through private sector involvement marketing to rebrand ourselves to be self reliance with little expectations from the government funding" NCGA president.
