ATASP-1 Plans Wet Season Inputs Distribution, Advocates for Agricultural Infrastructure Development

 

Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Arabi, the National Coordinator, Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme (ATASP-1), has announced plans for the upcoming wet season farm inputs distribution to targeted areas just as he emphasized the need for Government to prioritize the development of agricultural infrastructure to bolster food productivity nationwide.


Arabi in an exclusive interview with Foodfarmnews in his office in Abuja recently said that timely inputs distribution to farmers  would increase food productions adding that delay could negatively impact food security with the need for agricultural infrastructure availability.


The Coordinator said that the recent completion of irrigation projects covering 1000 hectares was a significant achievement to food security emphasizing on the need for infrastructure productivity for all agricutural produce.


In addition to production, Arabi highlighted the importance of efficient transportation and processing systems to ensure that agricultural products are reaching markets effectively pointed the need for comprehensive support to farmers through subsidy on agricultural inputs.


Despite challenges such as insecurity and project implementation delays, Arabi remained optimistic ATAP's ability to support farmers with agricultural development just as he called for collaborative efforts with governments by other stakeholders to address areas of challenges for sustainable agricultural systems.


Arabi urged governments to prioritize direct support to local communities and ensure transparency in resources allocation to foster self-sufficiency and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
