ARCN set for restructuring- Sharabutu

 


The Executive Secretary (ES),Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) has said that the organization is going to be restructured towards the effective achievement of its mandates for food security with wealth creations.


Prof. Garba Sharabutu disclosed this during an exclusive interview with Food Farm News in ARCN headquarters, Abuja.


 Sharabutu pointed that the Council would be restructured to reflect its mandates which are research, extension and training. 


According to him " the Council will be restructured in such a way that there will be a Directorate for each of the component. Research will become a Directorate, Training will have its own and extension all under the council. This will enable us to drive the sector very effectively by being able to reach out to more people in the country "


ES hinted that the council has just concluded a world bank project of Adopted village where best agronomics knowledge would be taught in the rural areas with improved agricultural technologies, adding that the ARCN television and radio stations were already achieved projects for more disemination of government agricultural projects information on food security and wealth creations.


He stated that a committee has already been formed to ensure that all Executive  Directors of research institutes endorsed the restructuring before the proposal is forwarded to the main ministry for approval as stated by law.
