National mushroom gets elected executive officers

In an election conducted by the Federation of Agricultural Commodities Association (FACAN), Chief Michael Awunor has emerged the President of the National Mushroom Association of Nigeria (NMUSAN) with thirteen other officers that will paddle the affairs of the crop from production, processing and marketing for the period stipulated by its constitution.

In his remark, the elected National President, Chief Awunor who has defeated his opponent in an open ballot voting process with 129 to 98 votes, said he would bring his wealth of local and international experiences into driving the association to an enviable level where about 20,000 new job will be annually created alone the value chain of mushroom productivity pointed the victory is for all the members.
Chief Awunor said that “the victory of today is for all. No victor, no vanquish as we will all bring the association to a top level as dynamic people with dynamism that will ensure creation of 20,000 farmers by this time next year. I will be bringing my international connection into bear with an advantage of being able to speak different foreign languages”.
Chief M.M . Chinda while casting his vote for the post of the National Mushroom President, which he lost.
“Apart from food advantages of the mushroom, it is very medicinal to human body and there is need to create that awareness for people to consume it at least once in a day. What stops Dangote from producing mushroom noodles if it was well grown? This also is the more reason why its production must be accelerated to meet the demand needs as the forest where is mostly seen growing is daily shrinking due to climatic change challenges. However we are going to increase production through young farmers and at the same time galvanizes awareness on public consumption, its medicinal value and many other things towards attracting foreign exchange through export of it in a very shortest time” said he.
Speaking after the conferment of the executives into their different positions, the National Secretary of FACAN, Dr. Bello Dogodanji advised the leadership to embark on reconciliation with all the aggrieved members and also to ensure the expansion of the association at both the states and local government levels before the coming election of the association, so as to enable the delegates from those states to select the next executives officers. 
He however pointed that the crop should be used to achieve the government dream of economic diversification and wealth creation through employment generation.    

Other officers are- National Secretary, Barister Chukwu Anthony, National Vice President South East, Mr. Kingsly Ijomah, National Publicity Secretary, Sir Patrick Alor, National Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr. All Well Ndubuaku and National Financial Secretary, Godspower Obinna Osuagwu.
The rest elected officers unopposed are National Vice President, South West, Mr. Yufus Olaitan, National Organizing Secretary, Mrs Ester Edet Okon, National Treasurer, Alale Olaka, National Vice President, South South, Mr. Pagabio Diete-Spiff, National Vice President North West, Umar Habu Ibrahim, National Vice President North East, Glory Ekpenyong and National Assistant Secretary, Timipanipiri Wood.

However, the National President, Chief Awunor is also the President, Nigeria-Uganda chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agricultural, and also for Nigeria-Mali.
