The Federal Government has commenced training 120 Nigerians across the 36 states on the fabrication of agro-processing machines, to serve as a catalyst for agricultural revolution in the country.

The scheme, rolled out through the Federal ministry of Agriculture, is aimed at spreading the skill so acquired and imparting same to other interested Nigerians.

Yesterday, 60 male trainees completed their theoretical and practical courses on fabrication of the relevant Machines at National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) Ilorin, Kwara State.

Their female counterparts, drawn from across the 36 states of the federation, will next month, commence their own version of the training at the NCAM, towards boosting agricultural production in Nigeria.

The Acting Executive Director of the NCAM, Dr. Yomi Kasali, made these submissions, yesterday, during the graduation ceremony of the male batch of the trainees in Ilorin.

Kasali, represented by Engineer AbdulGafar Kamaldeen, Director, and Head of Department (HOD) of Farm Power and Machinery Department of the centre, said the skills so acquired should serve as a security against youth unemployment in the country.

At the end of the ceremony, the trainees, majority of who had had prior wielding exposures, displayed and operated the cone Sheller and multipurpose threshers fabricated by them at the end of their training.

Responding on behalf of the participants, Mr. Adamu Sunday from Borno State commended the initiative of the Federal Government at diversifying the economy from oil to agricultural sector.
