Food Security: AFAN leader wants action against non performance

The National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria ( AFAN), Architect Kabir Ibrahim has emphasized the need for constant monitoring of food security activities in order to effect action against non performance and corruption ministers. This statement coming from Architect Kabir Ibrahim was to reward and punish any minister not doing well to the wishes of Nigerians and Mr. President in attaining food security in the shortest time. It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( BOT) has on Wednesday this week assigned Abubakar Kyari as the Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), and Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi as state. 

According to AFAN president " Any appointee found performing below average, perpetrating inequity or promoting corruption should be promptly removed or reassigned, while anyone performing creditably well should be publicly acknowledged and adequately applauded " Ibrahim commended the president's decision to rename the FMARD as MAFS saying it speaks volumes of the administration’s desire to make Nigeria food secured within a short time.

 He added that the appointment of relatively young people to drive the quest for the attainment of food security was also a step in the right direction as he called for synergy among government agencies towards food security. He said that " myriad challenges of insecurity,flooding largely due to climate change, inadequate finance, challenges of inadequate inputs,low level of mechanization and reliance on rain-fed production, lack of processing, absence of seamless distribution of produce and its storage as well as consumption are obvious threats to our food system and call for synergy among all MDAs with cross-cutting responsibilities" 

He went further saying " The Ministries of Water Resources, Defence, Environment and Ecological management, Aviation, Transportation, Power, Finance, Trade & Investment as well as the CBN, Works and the new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development must work lockstep with the of Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to fast track the attainment of food security in Nigeria" Ibrahim stated that "Above all the most critical stakeholders,the farmers comprising youth and women need to be incentivized to work assiduously to scale productivity for rapid attainment of food security, adding that " A periodic monitoring and evaluation of all policy implementation by Mr. President is absolutely necessary to ensure success in the effort to attain food security" He stressed that " Any appointee found performing below average, perpetrating inequity or promoting corruption should be promptly removed or reassigned but anyone performing creditably well should be publicly acknowledged and adequately applauded"
