PRESS RELEASE- FG EMPOWERS WOMEN FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH.


PARTICIPANT DURING THE TRAINING SESSION IN NEW BUSSA.

In fulfillment of some of its campaign promises the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development - Federal Department of Extension Services has empowered selected women across some States.


The Director Gender & Youth, Mrs. Karima Babangida who represented the Ministry said that the 65 women were selected from Gombe, Adamawa, Kogi, Katsina, Niger, Kano States and some staff of the Ministry of Agriculture Abuja. 

They were trained from the 10th to the 16th of September 2017 at the Federal College of Fresh-water Fisheries Technology, New Bussa, Niger State. She also confirmed that at the end of the training period, a starter pack consisting of these items were given to each participant alongside Thirty-One Thousand, Five Hundred Naira for transport fare to and from New-Bussa:

1.      A fish tank
2.      400 fingerlings
3.      Weighing scale
4.      5 bags of fish feed (2mm,3mm,4mm and 6mm) and
5.      Medicines (Antithesis, Antibiotics and Growth Promoters).

Speaking further, Mrs. Karima Babangida said that women were considered because they are the back bone of families recently, and that it is hoped that these women will use their resources to take care of the home including ensuring that children are well fed and are also in school.

The Managers of the Institute said this is the first time they are training all women.
The expression of joy of these women knew no bound as they showed overwhelming gratitude for the Federal Government kind gesture to them. They promised to use the materials given to them judiciously and also appealed that more women should be trained.

The organizers of this programme also stressed the need that these participants are expected to train at least ten (10) other women in return. Participants are also to be tracked through regular monitoring to ensure progress and impact profitability.
