SAA 2000 AGENDA PUTS NIGERIA`S FOOD PRODUCTION AND AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES ON THE INCREASE

SAA Global 2000’s partnership with rural farmers and cooperative groups who are into rice, wheat, maize and cassava farming in Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, Cross River and Benue have been recording increased crop production from 1-2tons P/H to 4-2 P/H and singled out Cross River State where 5-8 tons of rice production was recorded as against 2-3 tons per H/A towards achieving its mission to eradicate hunger on the face of Africa realistic.
The support to farmers includes supply of improved and quality seeds, training of farmers on modern farm technology, financial grants, loans and processing machines.
Prof. Sani Miko, Country Director SAA Global 2000 Nigeria made this known when he addressed Newsmen on the activities of the organization targeted at eradicating hunger on the face of Africa over the years He explained that post harvest training, processing, human development, monitoring, evaluation and sharing of practices and train the trainee were being implemented vigorously along with the farmers and the results are increasing number of prosperous small holder and commercial farmers, culminating in booming agro –business activities now taking the center stage among the hitherto poor farmers in the contributing states.
Furthermore, SAA 200 Nigeria has been working in collaboration with Local fabricators and suppliers with aim of training the fabricators to improve on concepts and designs from the point of taken the machines to Farmers for demonstration and acceptability by the farmers.
Towards this end, the non-governmental organization sources a revolving fund and buys the machines for onward supply to the farmers after training them on operations and maintenance, an approach that has moved the farmers from conventional status to business farmers.
The country Rep. disclosed that N2000m grant was received from the federal Government to aid its programmes and another 80m support grant from WAPP.
These grants in-aid added to the foundation budgets over the years has seen the transformation of farmers into formidable Co-operative group’s organization across the states. They include the physically challenged namely Zangon Buhari Women Rice processors and Bunkure Disable support group in Kano. Others are the Malam Ubale Saidu and Multi Value chain actors and other Disabled Supported groups on Maize platform established at Ku Mo and Dawadawa Women processors at Doho all in Gombe state. 
He particularly commended the Governments of Kano, Jigawa and Gombe States for their support and overall contribution to the objective, of SAA, Nigeria.
The Managing Director, Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority, Prof Mahmud Ibrahim Dahneji who also spoke at the Media briefing described.
SAA 2000, Nigeria as a household name among farmers in Kano State and expressed satisfaction with the joint working relationship between the two organization in terms of the  use of Farmer groups, Extension workers and the deployment of technical personnel of KNARDA to the organization.
The Managing Director further disclosed that under Market 11 Dry Season Farming,5,000 farmers are to benefit from the programme, adding that the Government of Kano state has employed 729 Extension workers, out of which 100 are being trained by Kasakawa along the value chain. Added to this are 78 ES workers on the payroll of Kano State Government on secondment to SG 2000.
