The youths in Osun State who just completed training on
agricultural production have promised to make a huge impact in the
agriculture and general food production sector of the country. The 20
youths who were sponsored to Germany by the state government, gave this
assurance on their return to Osogbo after their two month trip abroad.
They were received by officials of the Osun Ministry of
Agriculture, Food Security and Youth Engagement at the Murtala Muhammed
International Airport, Ikeja Lagos. It would be recalled that the Osun
State government had previously in 2013 sponsored 20 youths to Germany
for the acquisition of knowledge in modern agricultural practices with
greater impacts in various aspects of agriculture in the state.
This initiative is part of the state’s resolve to banish hunger,
enhance wealth through massive increase in food production and
agriculture as well as providing assistance and support to farmers in
finding and exploiting profitable agricultural practices.
In his remarks, Adebayo Waheed Adekunle, who spoke on
behalf of the youths described the initiative as timely, necessary and a
wise intervention. Adekunle who said the team was ready to bring about
the development needed in agriculture disclosed that every member of the
team was also ready to translate the experiences they gathered in the
course of the training to effect greater agricultural production in the
state.
