The Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, has stressed the urgent need to replace aging farming population with trained vibrant youth across the country. He thereby tasked the youth to see themselves as agents of change and be self-reliant through agriculture, which he said is necessary for Nigeria to regain its economic balance.

Governor Ajimobi, represented by the State’s Commissioner for Education, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, made the call while speaking at the first convocation ceremony of the College of Agriculture in Igbo Ora, Oyo State.

Speaking, the Provost of the college, Professor Gbemiga Adewale , noted that emphasis must be on improved research and enhanced productivity, as against regular farming production that Nigerian farmers have been used to. He also urged the government at all levels to support the practice of modern agriculture.

According to Today News, Adewale maintained that the youths must be seriously involved in the new Agriculture Policy of the Federal Government to achieve success.
