Cashew president asks public to disregard interim leadership

The president, National Cashew Association of Nigeria ( NCAN), Hon. Joseph Ajanaku has asked the public to disregard an online report on the appointment of an interim executive leadership for his association.

Hon. Joseph Ajanaku told FoodFarmNews after his cross-examination and release by the police in the force headquarters, Abuja that the said news should not be respected as he was still in charge as NCAN president by his reelection mandate of November 23rd, 2024, saying the election was based on the resolution of the Association at the Assembly of General Meeting (AGM) held in Enugu on 25th January, 2024.

He pointed out that anyone who wants to cross-check the leadership of NCAN should confirm through the Federation of Commodity Associations of Nigeria (FACAN) and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment (FMITI), stating that the self-acclaimed interim leader has been called to order.

When FoodFarmNews informed him that the findings revealed the interim leadership was constituted because his tenure had expired without conducting another election, he stated that this was not true, as he had been duly reelected.

According to Ajanaku " We had our election based on the resolutions of the Assembly of General Meeting (AGM) held in Enugu on January 25th, 2024, that had in attendance over four hundred members. It was at this meeting 23rd of November, 2024 was picked for election that reelected him and his other cabinet members "
