Mr. Johnson Ebokpo speaking with Food Farm News at the recently concluded National Council Meeting on Agriculture and Food Security held at his state ( Cross River)
The Agric commissioner subsisting on the good soil of Cross State to grow stable crops like cocoyam, yam, cocoa, and cashew pointed that the state is pragmatically projecting large-scale cereal productivity to boost its economy.
The commissioners said that the state government is passionately working towards using Agricultural productivity especially in cereal crops to reposition the economy from much dependency on the crude oil economy.
" By focusing on crops like maize, millet, and rice, the state seeks to reduce its dependence on oil revenue while creating new job opportunities for local communities" said Mr. Epebo.
He said further that " The state's tropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C and abundant rainfall, provides ideal conditions for cereal cultivation. These natural advantages, combined with government support, pave the way for Cross River to establish itself as a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria"
" As this initiative unfolds, Cross River State anticipates enhanced food security, economic growth, and a promising future of agricultural prosperity for its people"
