Ex-Agric, water minister, Dr. Ruma dies


Dr. Abba Ruma, the former Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources has been confirmed dead early hour of this morning in London.

The popularly known as promoter of commercial Agriculture minister in Nigeria was said to have died of diabetes in a London hospital.

Dr. Ruma served as a minister of Agriculture and Water Resources between 2007-2010 under the administration of late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.

The commercial agriculture, World Bank assisted program was well supported and promoted by his administration as minister, and today the program has now metamorphosed into the Agro Processing, Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support (APPEALS) that is presently running in about seven states in the country.

He also initiated the building of 100,000 metric tones silo along Kwali-Sheda, Lokoja highway.
