Plateau set to host 44th National Council meeting on Agriculture.

The year 2020 National Council on Agricultural and Rural Development (NCARD) will take place in Plateau state between 20th to 24th April as stakeholders in the sector from all the federation are expected to converge for the purpose of giving approvals to  paper of memorandum for the year food security and commercialization implementation.

 NCARD meeting was last year held in Umahia, Abia state where the hosting right was assigned to Plateua state, and is expected to be chaired by the present Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji. Sabo Nanono, while all the states’ agric commissioners will also be present for this event as members of the apex decision body in the sector.  

Many of the states’ agricultural policies are expected to be brought forward to interface with Federal Government’s own for the purpose of collaboration and partnership towards proper harnessing of potentials in the sector.

It will be recalled that the Ruga approval for animal management was given at the last year NACRD meeting before it was generally opposed by majority of Nigerians at implementation while some few states actually provided land for its implementation.

Food Farm News learnt that preparations are already ongoing as letters of invite have been sent out to relevant stakeholders expected at the event. The issue of the return of Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) might have been slated to be discussed because of its general demand by the farmers. Although no official is ready to pass any comment as whether there any memo as regards it.
