IAR&T appoints Ekiti man best farmer for S/W 2017


IAR&T REFILs for 2018: Pictures speak as the best farmer from South West was honored with an award of excellence along with Prof. Oluwatosin for excellent performance as immediate past Refils coordinator. The Institute of Agricultural Research & Training (IAR&T) committee of South West Zonal Research Extension Farmers Input Linkage System (REFILS) for 2018 has conferred on Hon. Adekunle Adeniyi,  an All Farmers’ Association Chairman (AFAN) , Ekiti East, and Managing Director, Samtex Integrated Agro Industry with the best farmer of the year 2017 agricultural productivity for his best agronomics practices  in the zone.

Speaking on how IAR&T arrived at this decision, one of the members of the REFILs committee, Dr. Bosede Olukemi Lawal said it was a unanimous decision of all the ADPs in the region being the one that scored the highest in the best agronomics performance among all names submitted by all states of Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Lagos and Ekiti. My visit to his farms confirmed his productivity to food security using improved methods as he exported yams and had once sponsored MTRM in the state.
The PRO, IAR&T Dr. Amusat Adeniyi also said that Hon. Adeniyi merited the award among all the names submitted by all the states in the region saying that “ he has large expanse of land for oil palm, cocoa, rice, cassava and maize using improved technologies which have enabled him to record bumper harvest, and he also involve in processing and support other farmers with inputs”
