As part of
catching them young, youths from secondary schools in Abuja and other elders from
the NYSC were gathered yesterday to a lecture about how to make career from
agricbusiness.
The one day
workshop organized by Concerned Youth Empowerment Association in partnership
with Raw Material Research Development Council (RMRDC) was to expose the youths
into opportunities and potentials in the sector that would make them self
employed after leaving schools without recourse to looking for government
employment from anywhere.
In his
speech, the President of the Association, Comrade Noble Adaelu pointed that for the high
food importation in the country to become a thing of the past, every hands must
be on deck with all readiness to participate in the all the value chains of the
agricultural production saying there are lot of untapped potential in the
sector awaiting the youths to harness as wealth and job creation.
According to
Comrade Noble “to cut down the high importation of food items and other
products into the country and increased productivity in the agro processing entrepreneurship
sector which now depend largely on the youths who comprises about 65-70 percent
of Nigeria’s active population with their energies and numbers are tremendous opportunity
for Nigeria to advance for industrial growth through indigenous technology”.
