The Executive Director Nigerian  Dutch Multinational Investment  Mr. Henk Wymenga & Mr. Uzodinma Onouh

A Dutch multinational company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Debiro Farms towards commercial production of sorghum in Nigeria using local small scale farmers as out growers that will be supported with improved inputs as discussion in this light has recently been held in Lagos and Kenya.

Food Farm news was hinted by the chairman Debiro farms who disclosed that his farm is to empower 2000 producers by this MOU saying farmers who have 2hectares of farms would be engaged to partner with them as participation in the programme would be provided inputs such as fertilizer, hybrid quality seeds, herbicide for effective production of sorghum in the country as market is guaranteed.

The partnership according to Mr. Debiro is meant to generate about 2 billion naira income for farmers as over 500,000 tons of sorghum would be produced for both local consumption and export to generate more money.

He added that the system of off taking the produce will be directly through the warehouse system stressed that” once the farmer supplies its produce to the center point of collection, the farmer will be issued with a warehouse receipt, this receipt is more like a bankers check.
