The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono has revealed that the Federal Government has resolved to inject over N600 billion as stimulus response into the agriculture sector, targetting small scale farmers, to ensure food security and sustainability.

NAIC: Buhari appoints a new director, re-new one other

 


President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Bashir Tijjani Babajo as the new Executive Director (ED) of operations, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), for a period of four (4) year term with effect from 1st August, 2020, just as he renewed the appointment of ED finance and administration, Mr. Philip Ashinze for a four year second term also with effect from with same date.

Almost a year after the official registration and release of genetically modified cowpea at the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (NACGRAB) in Ibadan by Institute for Agricultural Research Institute (IAR), the multiplication trial of the new improved variety into foundation and certified seeds has now been embarked upon by 53 farmers and seed companies across the states in a day training conducted by IAR scientists and African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AAFT).

The Head, Pest Control Service, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Mr. Danlami Aliyu Chafe said that no fund has been released from the N13 billion intervention fund to combat birds and other diseases mitigating against food security in the North. Mr. Danlami Aliyu Chafe disclosed this to Food Farm News during a chat.

Architect Ibrahim stated this in an interview he had with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) last week.
