AFAN distance itself from FMARD inputs palliative, says is a fraud

All Farmers’ Association of Nigeria has called on all its members to be wary of paying into any fictitious account number for any substandard agricultural implements from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) under the present minister, Alhaji Nanono Sabo. This was in a press release made available to Food Farm News yesterday that was signed by the National President of the Association, Architect Kabiru Ibrahim.

Exporters decry apex bank’s policy on domiciliary account

The Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria (FACAN) has condemned the policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disallowing exporters from having unlimited access to their foreign domiciliary account to pursue export. Expert disagrees with FAO, says Nigeria needs mechanization, not palliatives

An agricultural expert, Engineer Olagbaju Akeju has described as a wrong step the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)’s culture of concentrating only on giving inputs to farmers rather than helping with mechanization of the sector towards commercialization and upgrading of subsistence to medium and large scale farmers.

Buhari insists on competitive food importation

President Mohammadu Buhari has directed food importers to use their money, directing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to give any official exchange rate to anybody at the expense of local production.
